THE “LK5” STORY
“LK5” is short for “Log Kill 5”. Science
measures germ eradicating efficiency by log kill rates. Hand
washing (“Log Kill 3”) and alcohol based sanitizers (“Log Kill
4”) cannot effectively destroy the many germs that plague Public
Safety Professionals, their families, their departments and
their equipment.
In conjunction with Sandia National Laboratories
R&D, Tionicon used their in-house blending technologies to
develop the “Log Kill 5” (meaning 99.999%) “BZK” based
compound. This “Log Kill 5” formulation was originally developed
for emergency cleanup of biological and chemical warfare agents
following a terrorist attack. This compound utilizes a
patented technology that fractures the germ spore. This process
allows this patented “BZK” compound to penetrate and kill the
germ cells from the inside out. “BZK” is not found in any
alcohol based hand sanitizing products.
The net result is that Public Safety
Professionals can now access this technology to help fight all
the nasty bacteria that surrounds the daily duties of public
safety servants and first responders. This non-irritating,
non-flammable, non-staining product is packaged in a slender,
cruiser-friendly, pocket-friendly container for $4.95. The
active Aloe in the compound leaves the skin moist and protected
from chapping due to harsh winds, rain, sub-freezing
temperatures and excessive applications.
Alcohol based sanitizers work for only seconds while LK5 foam
continues to kill germs and bacteria up to 30 minutes after
